Where did the idea for gymii come from?

Selina has been a competitive golfer for 16 years, playing from the age of seven through college, so nutrition always mattered for performance. She'd tried tracking but found it "such a cumbersome experience" she couldn't stick with it — and she loved the social feel of fitness tools like Strava and her Apple Watch, which she felt was "really missing from the nutrition space."

Because of her athletic background, nutrition had always been important for well-being and performance, but apps like MyFitnessPal were too tedious for her to stay consistent. On the flip side she had a lot of exposure to fitness apps and gadgets — she wears an Apple Watch and uses Strava to see friends' trails and half marathons "just for fun." She noticed that when people bring up nutrition tracking "there's almost like this vibe, oh, like it's so annoying to do," compared with the fun, shareable feel of fitness. Closing that gap became the inspiration for gymii.
