Nathan's one-line mission statement is that "pair uses material science to create clothes that are comfortable, functional and sustainable." He started it with his best friend Rex, who is a specialist in materials and textiles, out of a passion for sustainable fashion and a desire to "fight fast fashion with better ethical and sustainable products, so that if people want to buy the product they would already be doing good for the planet." They began with socks to prove the model with one very simple product, then two years later launched underwear and t-shirts — and underwear in particular "has done super well," now making up 60% of sales.
