Chasing product-led growth, Jevon built a light version of Keeyu as a Shopify app that didn't include all the integrations — on advice that the big Shopify ecosystem would make it "just explode." It didn't work: "we spent 3 4 months building it, it didn't work, we didn't get the downloads."

Some potential investors had told him the Shopify ecosystem was so big there was huge opportunity, but one person warned him "you can't expect to just put an app up on a Shopify store and then suddenly get 1 million downloads." That person was proved right. The detour gave Jevon "even deeper conviction that we sales lead," and he ties the unit economics back to "getting our ACV right."
