Everyone told Nate he was never going to close a round in December and that if he hadn't raised by November he should cut the round and reengage in January. He thought that was "a bit of a load of crap" and carried on — closing 800 K because warm, interested parties won't wait two months if they really want in.

Nate says it was a weird thing over Christmas and New Year's because everyone was telling him he'd never close a round in December: "if you haven't raised in November, you might as well just cut around and and just reengage in January." His view was that this was, in his case anyway, "a bit of a load of crap." His reasoning: "if you've got interested parties, and, you know, people that you speaking to that are pretty warm, I think you should just carry on." If they like you and are keen to invest, they won't wait two months — they could miss the boat. He'd actually seen the reverse happen: some potential investors who weren't ready reengaged in January and couldn't get on board because the round had already closed.
